Following its initial appearance, Ultima remained largely absent from the series, with it not reappearing until Final Fantasy VI. Remaining its status as a lost magic, Ultima was the strongest spell available to players, but would be shifted to the "Attack Magic" class. This appearance would begin Ultima's status as a Black Magic spell, along with being the first title to feature the dome-like design that would become its recurring animation composition. Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy X would later feature Ultima as the strongest attack magic for players and later storyline bosses.
