The factions menu can be accessed by entering the Middle-earth menu (default press "L") and scrolling over to the Factions section. This displays your alignment with all factions, and some other statistics. There are three main categories: "Westlands", "Rhn", and "Harad". All that just went through the ring portal will automatically spawn in the Shire, which is in the middle of the Westlands.
