Incubating makes sure the growing dragon is always growing at a minimum rate. A freshly laid or evolved dragon will evolve on its own in approximately 2.5 days without any care, while a dragon under 2 days left to live will need about 24 hours to evolve by incubator. Caring is much faster than incubation and is recommended whenever available.
