Pura Lpez-Colom was born in Mexico City in 1952. She is the author of several volumes of poetry in Spanish, most recently Tragaluz de Noche (2003) and Msica Inaudita: Poesia 1985-2000 (2002). No Shelter, a volume of her selected poems translated by Forrest Gander, was published by Graywolf Press in 2002. Her translations include renderings of Samuel Beckett, Seamus Heaney, H.D., and others into Spanish. She currently lives in Cuernavaca, Mexico, with her family.
