Very true, freely downloaded updates will be broken because the machine will not be able to connect to the internet. DNS is not broken with this method, just not allowing the machines to connect outside the domain because the gateway is invalid, they will still have internal DNS resolution in AD. IP/Sub will be correct for the domain and DNS registration will be normal.
