Since 2017, use of the ANE has been steadily increasing from a handful of Apple applications to numerous applications from both Apple and the developer community. The availability of the Neural Engine also expanded from only the iPhone in 2017 to iPad starting with the A12 chip and to Mac starting with the M1 chip.
