There is another climbing wall that the crate needs to be placed in front of. Jump onto the crate and then onto the wall to climb to the next level. Unfortunately, this part of the quest in Hogwarts legacy can have some glitches, so if you do not immediately climb the wall, you might need to readjust the crate until you can jump high enough to trigger the climbing ability.
