Thanks for your reply. There is nothing running in the background. CPU and MEM do not go above 4%. This is not specific to office documents. PDFs, JPGs, txt, GIF are a problem. I have also tried opening these files with other programs with the same results. My drivers are up to date. This is an Alienware laptop.
