Anthony Frank Hawk was born on May 12, 1968, in San Diego, California. When he was 9, his older brother gave him a used skateboard. By the age of 11, Hawk began competing, and he soon became a top skater. When he was only 16 years old, many people considered him the best skateboarder in the world.
