The player begins as and controls an Oogie after having escaped from the sea with the only other survivor, Little Oogie. As the player explores the terrain of Tapti, a large planet that acts as the birthing ground for various different species, Little Oogie is abducted by a UFO piloted by an evil creature named Gar' skuther, who intends to infect and control the entire star system. A wild goose chase ensues, where the player must collect parts from the crumbling UFO in order to build their own and follow Gar' skuther off of planet Tapti.
