After the release of Garrett McKay's second major project, Fredbear and Friends: Left to Rot, he decided to create an experimental game using a new game engine. At the time, Clickteam Fusion was the dominant platform for fangame development. Garrett first hinted at the game by revealing the title in an update to Fredbear and Friends: Left to Rot, which intentionally placed glitched textures in the Extras menu. The game was revealed to the public on January 16, 2023. Eventually, the game released on October 6, 2023.
