also i know in windows 7 and up, that if you give device manager new drivers, but the filenames are the same, it sometimes doesnt actually install the new driver set. i had to go in sometimes and uninstall driver and selected delete driver files as well. if i didnt do the actual delete drivers option it would say driver is installed. but i look at the data stamp of my .sys files and the new one didnt get installed.
