Even running Cheat Engine at the same time as a game with certain anti-cheats is enough to cause a ban, apparently. Story on a game forum I go to about how they were using a cheat engine for Solitaire or something, IDK, some single player game. Anyway, they had minimized their multiplayer online game when doing this. Came back to that online game and found their account kicked off the server and upon trying to log back in got a message about being banned. Sent support requests to the game company and found out that the anti-cheat system had detected them using Cheat Engine, even if Cheat Engine never tried to modify the online game's memory or even try to read it. Because the anti-cheat system was right, the account was never unbanned.
