In accordance with HRS 107-28(b), effective March 14, 2024 the State Electrical Code (2020 National Electrical Code with State Amendments) becomes the Interim Electrical Code for the City and County of Honolulu and will be applicable to all new building permits created from this date moving forward. Note that existing permit applications will have until March 13, 2025 to be issued for permit under the effective code at time of application (if not issued by that date, plans will need to comply with the newer code).
