You could use Guacamole - it will allow you to connect to Windows and Linux machines using nothing more than a (recent) browser. You need a Linux server to run it on, but that can just be another VM. Nice for situations where you cannot install software on the client computer or have firewalls blocking non HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
