Not only does glyphhanger convert font files, but it also subsets them (i.e. it removes unnecessary characters from a font file), which is another optimization step you want to make to serve more performant fonts. (That, and the fact that I love the work of the folks at Filament Group, who have always been big proponents of performance.)
