Girma kicked off her collegiate career at Stanford in 2018, making 68 appearances over three years. She helped lead the Cardinal to two Pac-12 Championships and the 2019 national championship. Girma also accumulated several individual accolades, including two-time Pac-12 Defender of the Year, which led her to becoming the number one overall pick in the 2022 NWSL draft by the San Diego Waves.
