Units are produced (trained) in cities, via their Production queue. Alternatively, they can be purchased instantly with Gold or Faith. Purchased units appear immediately, while produced units take several turns to appear (according to the amount of Production points they require currently). However, while produced units are ready to move immediately after spawning, purchased units need to wait for the next turn.
