Catalina Ugarte is a young winemaker blazing a thrilling new trail in one of Chile's most ancient winemaking regions, the Itata Valley. Catalina works with farmers in the Secano Interior region of the Valley, where she sources grapes from heirloom vineyards of well over 100+ years of age around the village of Ranqul, located in the southern portion of the country. After gaining her wine experience in Italy and Spain, Catalina returned to her native Chile to craft exceptional representations of old-vine Pas and Cinsault. Her primary focus is the preservation and promotion of the indigenous grapes and ancient winemaking traditions of Chile, practicing minimal intervention and environmental sustainabiliy.
