Like the 1980s, the 1990s saw a continued diversification of influences in Argentine rock. Heavy metal bands like A.N.I.M.A.L., Tren Loco, and Horcas gained more mainstream success; Fito Pez and Los Rodrguez achieved popularity with pop-influenced styles; and Iguana Lovers and Babasnicos were important groups of the movida snica ("sonic movement"), which was a local interpretation of alternative rock.[59]
